Have you ever had a pickled egg? Are they any good?

pickled eggs
rishathra7 asked:

My co-worker brought in some pickled eggs. They look like reddish-purple and they’re sitting in some red liquid. Should I try one?
I do like eggs… and I like beets… so should I expect some weird hybrid beet-egg tasting thing?
Well, I ate one. It wasn’t bad. The outside was a little rubbery which I didn’t like but the yolk just tasted like beet flavored yolk. I felt like there should’ve been something to go with it. I don’t think I’d ever make them myself but they were ok.

Remy Eats Pickled Eggs (Food Oddities - www.foododdities.com)

FoodOddities asked:

Visit www.foododdities.com for more gross foods eaten on camera by Remy!

One might argue that pickled eggs aren’t truly a food oddity. One might argue that they aren’t STRANGE enough to qualify. Yes, one might argue those very points, and indeed, some HAVE been arguing those points ever since Remy picked up the big jar in the store. But even though pickled eggs are a staple in Germany, British pubs and, apparently, the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania, most people have never tried the things. And how many kids are brave enough to try pickled eggs? Not many, you can be sure. Outside of Scranton, that is.
